Curriculum Vitae:

Dr. Dirk Vangeneugden holds a Master Degree in Chemistry (University Leuven, Belgium, 1995) and a PhD Degree in Polymer Science (University Hasselt, Belgium, 1999). The topic of his PhD dissertation was synthesis and applications of conducting polymers.
After graduation he joined VITO, an independent research organisation in Belgium, where he started working in the Plasma Technology Group as a project manager. In this position, he was involved in several industrial and EU-funded projects related to plasma assisted surface modification and coating of materials. Between 2002 and 2009, he was leading the strategic research at VITO involving cold atmospheric plasma technology. He is author and co-author of several papers and over 15 patents.
Since 2009, he is appointed Business Development Manager at VITO for Materials Research. Today's research interests include a broad range of material technologies with special interest for applications in the field of recycling, carbon capture, use and storage (CCUS) and bio-based chemistry.
