    Abstract:

This work focuses on the physical and geometrical aspect of the surface layers of AISI / SAE 3115 having undergone treatment by ball burnishing hard steel or diamond tip. The results show that the optimal effects of burnishing are directly linked to the shape and the material of the active portion of the device as well as the ability to plastic deformation of the material surface to be treated. And roughness is improved over 68% and the rate of consolidation is increased by 24%. Also modeling rational curves traction provides a hardening coefficient up to 0.29 in the presence of burnishing.
