Dr. Costas Kiparissides:
Dr. Costas Kiparissides
in the last 40 years has been involved in numerous research and development activities in polymer reaction engineering, drug delivery systems, multi-scale modelling of chemical, biochemical and biological systems, advanced functional materials, bio-medical engineering, science/innovation/technology policies, academia-industry policies, etc. He has been coordinator or/and principal investigator of over 100 EU and National-funded research projects and industrial contracts with a total budget of over 40 million Euros. He has established many research collaborations with over 100 National and International Universities, Research Institutes and Industries. He has supervised more than 50 Ph.D. and more than 120 M.Eng Theses. Ha has acted as a consultant for many chemical industries including Solvay, Total, ElfAtochem, Arkema, ExxonMobil, Mitsubishi, Borealis, Repsol, DuPont, SipChem, etc.
He had been Chairman of the Chemical Engineering Department at Aristotle University in Thessaloniki, Director and President of the Centre of Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH) in Thessaloniki (over 400 employees) for five years (2005-2010), Director of the Chemical Processes and Energy Resources Institute (CPERI) for six years (2001-2006), and Director and Co-founder of the Thessaloniki Technology Park. As Director of CERTH, CPERI and Technology Park, he was responsible for leading and coordinating R&D activities within the context of European and Global technology and innovation policies for more than ten years. He has served in numerous research, innovation, science and technology committees in European Union and Greece.
He has co-authored several monographs on EU RTD activities and policies including ; (1) NMP Expert Advisory Group: Position Paper on Future RTD Activities of NMP for the Period 2010 - 2015 ; (2) Science, Technology and Innovation Governance: A Research and Development Framework for Sustainable Development ; (3) NMP Programme Expert Advisory Group (EAG): Interactions between Academia and Industry ; (4) NMP Programme Expert Advisory Group (EAG): Best Practice in Innovation ; (5) NANOfutures - A cross-ETP Coordination Initiative on Nanotechnology-Nanoeducation.
He is founder of Polymer Simulations; Software and Services Ltd. PolymerS Ltd provides state-of-the-art software tools for computer-aided design, monitoring, optimization and control of a wide range of industrial polymerization processes. Based on over a 30 years experience in mathematical modelling of polymer manufacturing processes, as well as on its long-term collaboration with major polymer companies, PolymerS software tools and solutions can be utilized for increasing polymer plant productivity, product quality, plant safety and reducing environmental impact.
Prof. S. Logothetidis:
Prof. S. Logothetidis
has worked for more than 30 years in the fields of Nanotechnology, Organic Electronics, Nanomedicine, Thin Film Technology, Fabrication processes of nanostructured materials and in Optical Spectroscopy methods, Processes for Technology transfer of research results, Applications in Energy, Electronics, Materials, Informations, Health, Food Packaging, etc.
He has been the coordinator and principal investigator in more than 80 R&D projects funded by EU in Nanotechnologies, Materials Science, Organic Electronics and Nanomedicine with total budget of above 100M€. Many of these have been awarded by EU for their significant results as Success Stories. He has established collaborations with more than 80 national and international Universities and Reseearch Institutes and with more than 70 industries and SMEs. He is expert and evaluator of several R&D EU and National Projects.
He is the Founder and Director of the Post-Graduate Program "Nanosciences & Nanotechnologies" of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and the founder and Coordinator of the Thematic Research Network on Nanotechnologies and Nanobiotechnologies "NANONET" with more than 500 members (of Laboratories, Research Centers and companies) from all over the world, established in 2003.
He is the Chairman and organizer of the annual multi-event NANOTEXNOLOGY that was established in 2004, which includes International Conferences, International Summer Schools and Exhibition on Nanotechnologies, Nanomedicine & Organic Electronics.
Finally, he is also founder and President of the Hellenic Organic and Printed Electronic Association (HOPE- A) that consists of more than 20 companies and 3 research institutes for the formation of the Organic Electronics Industry in Greece.
Contributed articles will be doubled peer-reviewed and will be published in Conference Official Proceedings having an ISBN and an ISSN number and available through many indexes such as Scopus, EI index, Google Scholar, CiteSeerX etc. Selected contributed articles will also be published in reputable Journals.
