Short Bio:

Eiji Abe is a Professor at Department of Materials Science and Engineering in The University of Tokyo. He is also appointed as a Leader of Physical Metallurgy Team in National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS). Following a MEng at the Institute for Materials Research in the Tohoku University (1993), he joined NIMS in Tsukuba and worked there as a researcher (~2001) and a senior researcher in the Aperiodic Solids Research Group until 2005. He obtained PhD from Tohoku University in 2001. His research has been based on microstructure analysis using advanced electron microscopy, and his present interests focus on a design of light-weight structural materials through a novel concept beyond the existing dislocation theory.
