He was awarded his PhD degree at the same University in 1985 and his DSc degree (Habilitation in Mechanics) at Cracow University of Technology (Cracow, Poland) in 1999. He was awarded a Wolfson Research Merit Award by Royal Society (2016), a Marie Curie Fellowship (University of Liverpool, UK, 2005), a Leverhulme Trust Visiting Research Fellowship (LSBU, UK, 2004), the Prize of Polish Ministry of Education, (Poland, 2000) and the Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship (Erlangen-Nuremberg University, Germany, 1999) From 2007 Gennady Mishuris holds a chair in Mathematical Modelling at Aberystwyth University. This position was established by the Wales Institute for Mathematical and Computational Sciences. He works in the area of Applied Mathematics and Computational Modelling. His expertise includes: singular integral equations, functional equations of the Wiener-Hopf type, mathematical modelling in solid mechanics such as waves in complex structures, dynamic fracture propagation in continuous and discrete structures, solid-fluid interactions (in particularly hydraulic fracture), biomechanics (contact and indentation problems associated with biological tissues) and their various applications. Gennady Mishuris has published 4 research monographs, more than 160 publications and participated in numerous national and EU (FP6, FP7, H2020) research projects.
