Short Bio:

Dr. Marko Soderžnik is a post-doc research fellow at Institute Jožef Stefan, Department for Nanostructured Materials, Ljubljana, Slovenia. He studied Nanosciences at Jožef Stefan Postgraduate School in Ljubljana, Slovenia and got Japanese Society for Promotion of Science (JSPS) award for postdoc fellowship in National Institute for Material Sciences (NIMS), Tsukuba, Japan. He is focused on permanent magnets for energy applications and e-mobility, particularly Nd-Fe-B and Sm-Co composition are of a great importance. In addition, non-rare-earth-based permanent magnets as intermediate between sintered ferrite and sintered Nd-Fe-B; namely Y-Co-Fe magnets were also his field of interest. Understanding how the microstructural changes are related to magnetic properties changes are of the main issue. Recycling of metallic constituents of rare earth based powder or bulk material is also in the focus of his research. He has published more than 50 scientific contributions, patents and papers in refereed scientific journals and has given nearly 10 invited talks. He got award for a contribution to the sustainable development of society in the Republic of Slovenia in 2010 and First prize among young researchers at the Conference on Materials and Technology in Slovenia. He is supervisor of many undergraduate and PhD students and he is involved in numerous National and International research projects.
