Short Bio:

Mohamed AZAROUAL (55 years) is a Senior Geochemist – Scientific Program Leader at Water, Environment & Ecotechnologies and Industrial Partnership & Innovation responsible in BRGM (French Geological Survey). He obtained his PhD in Geochemistry at the Institute of Physics of the Globe of Paris - University René Diderot, Paris 7, in 1993 on “geothermal energy exchangers”. He defended his HDR (Accreditation to Supervise Research) in December 2014 on “multiphase reactive transport processes in geosystems for geo-resources and environmental issues” at the University of Orleans (France). His areas of scientific interest are the reactive transport modeling and mass and heat transfers between phases (water – gas – rock – “microorganisms”) in complex hygrogeological systems (including high temperature, high pressure, high salinity) throughout the continuum unsaturated and saturated zones for georessources (water, energy, …), underground uses and the environmental issues. He published more than 50 peer review papers with more than 250 presentations in international conferences. He is a faculty member at the INSA - Engineering School of Bourges (National Institute of Applied Sciences), he (co)supervised more than 15 PhD students, and is a board member of about 20 defending theses. He developed and managed R&D projects for ANR (French National Agency for Research), Europe, with active international scientific collaborations (USA, China, Morocco, Japan, Australia,). He developed research projects in the framework of partnership with industrials and private companies (i.e. TOTAL, ENGIE, VEOLIA, SUEZ, VATTENFAL, OCP, Mitsubishi, BP, Shell, etc.). Mohamed is the scientific responsible of the BRGM – LBNL partnership from 2007 (signature of 3 successive MoU).
