Short Bio:Dr. Saikat Chakraborty Thakur is an Associate Research Professor of Physics at Auburn University, USA, specializing in plasma instabilities, turbulence, transport and dusty plasma physics in both unmagnetized and magnetized experimental, low temperature plasmas. He plays a key role in the collaborative research facility, Magnetized Plasma Research Laboratory, mentoring Auburn graduate and undergraduate students and supporting multiple external collaborators while advancing research in basic plasmas and dusty plasmas at high magnetic fields (up to 4 Tesla). Dr. Chakraborty Thakur has so far authored more than 80 peer reviewed publications, delivered over 300 presentations and mentored over 100 students including graduate, undergraduate, and high school students. He also contributes extensively to multiple national and international plasma organizations and federal agencies and connects to the broader physics community via public engagement and outreach activities such as science fairs, K-12 visits, teachers training programs, with a strong emphasis on next generation workforce development. |
