Prof Raj Das is the Full Professor of Applied Mechanics and leads the ‘Simulation of Advanced Materials and Structures (SAMS)’ research group in the ‘Sir Lawrence Wackett Defence and Aerospace Centre’ of RMIT University (Australia). He was the ‘Program Director’ in the Aerospace Engineering and Aviation discipline of the School of Engineering. He is also an honorary academic in the University of Auckland, New Zealand and the University of Quebec, Canada.

Prof Das has nearly 20 years of experience in the design, analysis and optimisation of engineering materials and structures with a focus on computational mechanics, structural optimisation, composite structures, failure analysis, and damage tolerance design. Prof Das has published more than 350 papers in international journals and conferences in collaboration with several universities, institutes and industries. Prof Das has a PhD from Monash University, Australia in Applied Mechanics, and has previously worked in the University of Auckland (New Zealand), the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (Australia), and the University of Manchester (UK).

Prof Das has been granted several national and international awards and fellowships, including the ‘Sir George Julius Medal’ by Engineers Australia, ‘Science Award’ by the Sustainable Aviation and Energy Research Society, ‘RMIT Team Award for Impact and Collaboration as part of the Multifunctional Composite Materials Group, ‘Computational Methods Award’ by ICCM, ‘Jim & Hazel D. Lord Emerging Faculty Fellowship’, ‘Research Excellence Award’, and ‘AUEA Emerging Researcher Award’ by the University of Auckland. He has received the ‘CONICYT award’ from the Government of Chile, ‘Certificate of Merit Award’ from the International Association of Engineers, Hong Kong, ‘UQAC Visiting Fellowship’ from the University of Quebec, Canada, and ‘Visiting Researcher Fellowships’ from the Sapienza University, Italy, the University of Cape Town, South Africa, and the University of Canterbury, New Zealand.

Professor, Dr., Eng., Acad., Fernand D S Marquis is currently the CEO of two corporations entitled Integrated Materials Technologies and Systems (IMTS) and United Nano Technologies (UNT). He has been a Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the San Diego State University in San Diego California, He has also been a Professor at the Wayne E. Meyer Institute of Systems Engineering, at the Department of Systems Engineering, and at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey California. He received advanced degrees from the Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine (PhD and DIC), and from the University of Lisbon (PhD and Diploma of Engineering). He has been a Chartered Engineer in the Council of Engineering Institutions in United Kingdom, and a Registered Professional Metallurgical Engineer, a Registered Professional Chemical and Industrial Engineer. He taught extensively at the Department of Mechanical and Astronautical Engineering and at the Department of Systems Engineering at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California and at the Department of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. He has been a Visiting Professor at the Department of Applied Mechanics and Engineering Science at the University of California, San Diego, and at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Delaware, a Visiting Professor at Titanium Metals Corporation of America (TIMET). and an Academic Visitor at the Imperial College of Science and Technology, London, UK.

His most recent research focuses on (1) Nanotechnology, (2) Nano Materials, (3) Nano Systems, (4) Nanostructured Hybrid Material Systems, (5) Alternative and Renewable Energy Systems, (6) Defense Energy Systems and Expeditionary Energy Systems (7) Microstructural Design of Multifunctional Materials, (8) Advanced Manufacturing and (9) Sustainability. However, Professor Marquis research contributions over the years have covered many other research areas such as: (10) Shock Synthesis, Combustion Synthesis and Densification of Ceramics, Composites and Intermetallics, (11) Microstructural Design for Strength, Toughness and Fatigue Resistance of Aluminum Based Alloys: 2024, 2124, 5454, 7050, 7150, (12) Development of High Strength Zirconium and Titanium Based Alloys, with focus on Phase Transformations, (13) Development of High Strength Multiphase Stainless Steels and Stainless Composites, with focus on Phase Transformations, (14) High-Strain, High-Strain Rate Deformation Behavior of Ta and Ta-W Based Alloys, (15) Failure Analysis and Mechanisms in Structural Components, (16) Solid State Ionics and Solid State Energy Devices, (17) Thermoelectric Materials, (18) Corrosion of Zirconium, Copper and Cobalt Based Alloys, (19) Forensics, (20) Airplane and Aerospace Materials and Structures, (21) Creep Behavior of Nickel Based Super Alloys and High Temperature Materials.

His Research has been funded as a PI by many Agencies and Institutions such as: the National science Foundation (NSF) , US Department of Defense (DOD) Naval Postgraduate School (NPS), Army Research Laboratories (ARL), Northrop Grumman Marine Systems (NGMS), Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (NGDS) Northrop Grumman Ship Systems (NGSS), Naval Office of Research and Innovation (OR&I) , USMC Expeditionary Energy Office, Boeing, Alcoa, Kaiser Aluminum, Ravenswood Aluminum, NSF Institute for Mechanics & Materials, UCSD, TIMET, NanoTex Corp., SIPT, TGMI, GTU, SDSU, ISHM- NASU . In addition, he has developed successful collaborations with many other Institutions and has played a considerable pioneering and innovative role in the development of carbon nanotube and graphene hybrid nanomaterials systems such as Nanofluids, Nanolubricants, Nanogreases, Hybrid and Fully Integrated Polymer and Ceramic based composite materials, Hybrid Nanosystems for the environment, soil and water remediation, renewable energy and sustainability, and their transition to applications in Technology Systems

He has several patents and patent applications, eleven disclosed inventions of available technologies for licensing and commercialization, over 160 refereed publications, edited 22 books and Conference Proceedings, wrote several book chapters, over 40 special reports and five monographs. He supervised over 40 Master and PhD students, delivered over 60 Plenary, Keynote, and Invited lectures and gave over 160 contributed presentations

He has received many Professional and Institutions Awards, such as: Member of the Euro Mediterranean Academy of Arts and Sciences, Fellow of the American Society for Metals, Fellow Royal Microscopical Society, Who's Who in Engineering, Entrepreneurs of America, Sir Andrew Geim Innovation Award, Fray International Sustainability Award, and Faculty Award for Teaching with Technology. He has been an ABET (American Board for Engineering and Technology) Program Evaluator for Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering and Polymer Engineering. He is a member of many global Professional Societies, Professional Organizations, Advisory Boards, Editorial Boards and Board of Trustees.

He has served as a reviewer for many Agencies and International Journals such as: National Science Foundation, Civilian Research and Development Foundation Naval Systems, Journal of Materials Research, Journal of Material Science and Engineering, Materials Research Forum, Metallurgical Transactions, Journal of Materials, Royal Society of Chemistry, Advanced Materials Forum. In addition, he has served and continues to serve in many Review Panels.

He has organized as the Chair a very large number of very successful International Conferences, Workshops and Symposia under the umbrella of many Societies and Organizations. He donated extensively in time and energy many of Service to many Agencies and Institutions, such as TMS and served in many Divisions and Committees such as: Materials Design and Manufacturing Division, Professional Registration Certification, Accreditation, Powder Materials, Mechanical Behavior, Composites and Programing

He is a Paul Harris Fellow and a Member of the Rotary International. His professional experience and activities extend throughout several countries, and he speaks fluently five languages.

Ephraim Suhir is on the faculty of the Portland State University, Portland, OR, USA, and is also CEO of a Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) ERS Co. in Los Altos, CA, USA. He is Foreign Full Member (Academician) of the National Academy of Engineering, Ukraine (he was born in that country); Life Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the Society of Optical Engineers (SPIE), and the International Microelectronics and Packaging Society (IMAPS); Fellow of the American Physical Society (APS), the Institute of Physics (IoP), UK, and the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE); and Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). Ephraim has authored 500+ publications (patents, technical papers, book chapters, books), presented numerous plenary, keynote, invited and contributed talks worldwide, and received many professional awards, including 1996 Bell Laboratories Distinguished Member of Technical Staff (DMTS) Award (for developing effective methods for predicting the reliability of complex structures used in AT&T and Lucent Technologies products), and 2004 ASME Worcester Read Warner Medal (for outstanding contributions to the permanent literature of engineering and laying the foundation of a new discipline “Structural Analysis of Electronic Systems”). Ephraim is the third “Russian American”, after S. Timoshenko and I. Sikorsky, who received this prestigious award. His most recent awards are 2019 IEEE Electronic Packaging Society (EPS) Field award (for seminal contributions to mechanical reliability engineering and modeling of electronic and photonic packages and systems) and 2019 Int. Microelectronic Packaging Society’s (IMAPS) Lifetime Achievement award (for making exceptional, visible, and sustained impact on the microelectronics packaging industry and technology).
