Dr. Florian Kongoli holds 3 degrees: a Bachelor of Science, a Master of Science/University of Montreal, Canada and a Doctor of Science Degree/Tohoku University, Japan. Since 1996 he is CEO of FLOGEN Technologies Inc.,(www.flogen.com) a Sustainable High Tech applied research institute
incorporated in Canada and USA that today have offices and representations in more than 15 Countries around the the world while carrying out high tech projects in more than 40 countries.
Since 2007 he is Chairman of FLOGEN STAR OUTREACH (www.flogen.org), a not-for-profit organization dedicated to (1) achieving sustainability through science and technology, (2) raising the profile of science and engineering in the society and (3) properly honoring scientists and engineers.
Since 2003 Dr Kongoli has been President of the Organizing Committee of the Sustainable Industrial Processing Summits (SIPS) held every year in several countries around the world with an average participation of 500 authors from academia, industry, government and the entrepreneurship world representing an average of 80 countries.
Dr Kongoli has about 25 years of rich scientific and applied technology experience through direct involvement in numerous invited engagements in all continents. He has managed, involved, or actively participated in about 200 projects, 40 types of reactors, 10 industries, in 45 countries and in 6 continents. Dr. Kongoli has published 113 books and more than 200 scientific articles. He has delivered in numerous countries around the world about 220 plenary, keynote and invited presentations as well as articles, technical reports and research presentations. He has served in many leadership positions in national and international organizations and in many Professional Award Councils such as the Industrial Achievement Award Committee of International Federation of Automatic Control. He is Editorial Board member of several International Journals.
He is an elected Honorary Member of the Lorraine Academy of Sciences and Elected Member of Euro Mediterranean Academy of Arts and Sciences. He was awarded in 2017 the title "The Environmental Tech CEO of the year 2017" by CEO-Monthly UK magazine. He was awarded Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of his contribution toward sustainable development through FLOGEN Sustainability Framework by Tomas Bata University in Zlin (Czech Republic)/Faculty of Applied Informatics. He is honorary Citizen of Rio de Janeiro and Laureate of Gold Medal of the City of Nancy, France. In 2022 he was honored by the Congressman elect of Rio de Janeiro State, Alan Lopes, who will propose to the State Congress to adopt FLOGEN Sustainability Framework developed by Dr. Florian Kongoli in the state law for evaluating any proposed public or private project in the state. Also, in 2022 he was invited to give the Opening Sustainability Plenary Lecture at the United Nation Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, on 11 February 2022 about FLOGEN Sustainability Framework at the International Year of Glass 2022.
He has participated in business and government delegations in numerous countries accompanying Prime Ministers, Ministers and other government officials.

BIO of Sener Oktik

Prof. Dr. Şener Oktik graduated from Ankara University with a degree in Physics in 1976 and received his M.Eng. in Applied Physics in 1977 from the same university. He went on to obtain a Ph.D. from Durham University (UK), Department of Applied Physics and Electronics in 1982. Prof. Oktik became Associate Professor in 1986 and a full Professor in 1995. During his academic career, he has worked as a lecturer, research scientist, senior researcher and administrator, senior administrator at Durham University (UK), Lecce University (Italy), Stuttgart University (Germany), Selçuk University and Muğla University (Turkey). Prof. Oktik was the third and fourth term of President/Rector of Muğla University between 2002 and 2010. He has also worked as a senior research scientist, technologist, and senior executive in industrial research and technological development laboratories in England at BP Solar, Sunbury, Imperial Chemical Industries PLC (ICI), Paints Division Slough Research Labs, and Industrial Research Labs of Durham University (UK), Center for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research Baden-Württemberg (ZSW))(Germany) and in Turkey at Anel Group, Arıkanlı Holding and Şişecam). Prof. Oktik joined Şişecam Group as the Chief Research & Technological Development Officer (CTO) on 1st January 2012 and worked in this capacity until his retirement in March 2020. He has been a member of many NGO and occupational organizations throughout his carrier. Currently Prof. Oktik is a member of the Advisory Committee of International Commission on Glass, “ICG”, Conference on Coatings on Glass and Plastics, ”ICCG”, Society of Vacuum Coaters “SVC”, The Centre for Functional and Surface Functionalized Glass (Slovakia), a member of the Scientific Committee of “European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference EU-PVSEC” and representing Turkish Physical Society at the European Physical Society (EPS). At the national level, he is the Honorary Chairman Turkish Solar Energy Industry Association, a member of steering committee of Turkish Clean Energy Foundation, a member of advisory committee to Turkish Science, Technology and Innovation Policies Council, a member of board of trustees of Sıtkı Koçman Foundation and Turkish Fundamental Sciences Research Foundation. Prof. Oktik is a member of the Board of Directors of SİSECAM (Türkiye Şişe ve Cam Fabrikaları A.Ş) since 2020 and a senior lecturer at Kadir Has University. He is author/co-author of over 120 scientific and technical publications and inventor/co-inventor of two world patents.

BIO of Erik Muijsenberg

Erik Muijsenberg is a Mechanical Engineering graduate of the University of Eindhoven from the Class of 1990. For the eight years following graduation, he was employed by TNO Glass group in Eindhoven focusing his efforts in furnace modeling and glass melt technology. In 1997 he became the TNO Glass Department leader.
In 1998 he became a GLASS SERVICE B.V. Managing Director, the first GLASS SERVICE subsidiary office in Maastricht, the Netherlands. After eleven years he moved to GLASS SERVICE headquarters in Czech Republic to become group Vice President. GLASS SERVICE employs over 100 engineers with offices worldwide including Czechia, Slovakia, Netherlands, Germany, UK, France, USA, China and Japan. Glass Service daughter companies are well known worldwide FlammaTec for combustion systems and FIC UK for Electric melting solutions.
In 1997 Erik was awarded the Otto Schott Award.
In 2012 he received the Adolf Dietzel Industry Award from the German Glass Society for his contribution to the development and acceptance of glass furnace modeling & optimization in the German glass industry.
He was chosen as a Fellow member by the British Glass Society in 2014.
Erik is also active Vice Chairman and past Chairman of the Technical Committee 21 - Furnace Design & Operations - of the International Commission on Glass (ICG).
As of 2016 Erik became an ICG Steering Committee member.
In 2017 he became a Phoenix Award Committee member. Since 2023 Erik is the Vice Chairman of the Phoenix Award Committee.
Erik has actively promoted Industry 4.0 smarter model based predictive furnace and forehearth control and CO2 emission reductions to the Glass Industry for over twenty years.

BIO of Delia S. Brauer

Delia S. Brauer is Professor of Bioactive Glasses at the Otto Schott Institute of Materials Research, University of Jena, Germany. After finishing her studies in environmental chemistry, she completed her PhD on phosphate glasses at the University of Jena. She worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of California, San Francisco, USA, Nagoya Institute of Technology, Japan, and Imperial College London and Queen Mary University of London, UK. In 2012 she returned to Jena as a junior professor and was made a full professor in 2017. Her research focuses on degradable and highly disrupted glass systems, glass/water interaction, glass-based materials for biomedical applications and glasses as therapeutic release devices. She was awarded the Gottardi Prize of the International Commission on Glass in 2015 and was made a Fellow of the Society of Glass Technology in 2016. She is a member of Technical Committees 03 (Glass Structure and Properties), 23 (Education) and 04 (Glasses for Medicine and Biotechnology) and has acted as chair of TC04 from 2018 to 2022.

BIO of Bertrand Cazes

Bertrand Cazes is the Secretary General of Glass for Europe, the trade association for
Europe's flat glass sector.
Bertrand is actively involved in all policy and regulatory issues affecting the flat glass sector at European level, be in terms of manufacturing, decarbonisation, energy-efficiency, sustainability and product policy. Bertrand is the industry’s chief lobbyist towards EU authorities based on his 20 years experience in interest representation.
With over 10 years at the helm of Glass for Europe, Bertrand has a strong insider knowledge of the flat glass manufacturing and glazing sector in Europe and a holistic perspective of the challenges faced by the building and automotive glass industry.
Bertrand is a graduate in political science and holds two master’s degree in the management of European Affairs from universities in Paris and London. Bertrand is a native French and speaks fluent English.

BIO of John Parker

John Parker moved to Sheffield from the University of Cambridge in 1971, having completed a first-class MA in Natural Sciences, a PhD and a post-doctoral NERC fellowship studying aluminosilicates with incommensurate structures. At Sheffield, he has developed interests in both the optical/structural properties of glasses and the technology of bulk glass making. He is actively involved in the International Commission on Glass and is past-president of both the Society of Glass Technology and the European Society of Glass Science and Technology.

BIO of Setsuhisa Tanabe

Setsuhisa Tanabe is a full professor at Graduate School of Human and Environmental Studies, Kyoto University. He received his PhD at Department of Industrial Chemistry, Kyoto University in 1993. After working as an assistant professor, he became an associate professor in 2001 and was promoted to a full Professor in 2008 all in Kyoto University. He is the author of >250 original papers, >25 book chapters, and >40 review papers on luminescent glass and ceramic materials for upconversion lasers, optical fiber amplifier for telecommunication, LED phosphors and persistent phosphors. His h-index is 59 by Scopus. He has served as a plenary, keynote or invited speaker at more than 140 international conferences. He was the chair of Technical Committee on Photonic Glasses (TC20) of International Commission on Glass (ICG) during 2003- 2011 and was a member of Steering Committee of ICG during 2013~2020. On the occasion of UN International Year of Glass 2022, he served as the President of Japanese IYOG2022 Executive Committee in 2021~2022 as well as an International Committee member of IYOG led by Alicia Durán. He was a visiting scientist at Rutgers University, NJ, USA to work with Prof. Elias Snitzer during 1996-1997, also an invited professor at University of Rennes I, France in 2010 and 2016, and at University of Gdansk, Poland in 2019. He has been a main Editor of Journal of Luminescence since 2020 after serving as an associate Editor during 2014~2020. He is a Fellow of SPIE and ACerS

BIO of Urmilla Jokhu-Sowell

Urmilla Jokhu-Sowell, P.E., is the VP Advocacy and Technical Services for the National Glass Association (NGA), the largest glass and glazing trade organization in North America. Urmilla received both a bachelor's and master's degrees in civil engineering from Texas Tech University and is a registered Professional Engineer. Urmilla advocates for and promotes the use of glass in buildings and collaborates with several global organizations on developing industry standards, best practices, and technical education. She has leadership and representative positions on national and international glass-related organizations, including American Society for Heating Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), American National Standards Institute (ANSI), ASTM International, Glazing Industry Code Committee (GICC), and International Standards Organization (ISO).

BIO of Vinit Kapur

Post Graduate Diploma in Public Relations and Bachelors of Commerce (Honours), Mr. Vinit Kapur is the Secretary of The All India Glass Manufacturers Federation (AIGMF) since January 2011.
Mr. Kapur represented as the Council Member of IYoG from India for the UN declared International Year of Glass 2022 (IYoG) under the aegis of International Commission on Glass; and India was able to deliver more than 30 IYoG events from mid-2021 till Dec 2022, mainly driven by activities involving Youth with event details available at www.aigmf.com

Prior to joining the AIGMF, Mr. Kapur worked as the Director (Coordination and Government Relations) in the Organising Committee for Commonwealth Games in New Delhi between 2007-2010.

Mr. Kapur served as the Public Diplomacy Officer in the Australia-India Council and The Japan Foundation under Australian and Japanese Governments in New Delhi between 1999-2005.

Mr. Kapur holds 28-years of expertise in Public Advocacy programs.
