Short Bio:Christian Roos studied mineralogy and crystallography in Germany and started his career at Schott AG with a focus on solid state analysis of glasses, glass ceramics and surface properties of glass. He received his doctorate on the topic of "Improving the thermal shock properties of glass ceramics" at the University of Würzburg in a cooperation between Schott AG and the Fraunhofer ISC. rnrnBack at Schott, he led international research projects on the development of glass-ceramics and improvement of production technology. After 10 years at Schott AG, he took over the management as CEO of International Partners in Glass Research (IPGR) in Switzerland and at the same time taught at the University of Jena with a focus on applied glass technology in order to close the gap between basic glass research and the "real" glass industry. rnrnSince 2016, he has been a professor at RWTH Aachen University and head of the Chair of Glass and Glass Ceramics. Additionally since 2023 he is CRO / Senior Scientist at International Partners in Glass Research. Among other positions, he is a member of the board of directors of the Deutsche Glastechnische Gesellschaft, assessor for the Austrian Agency for Research Integrity, editor for the European Journal of Glass Science and Technology and reviewer for different Journals such as the Journal of Advanced Ceramics and the Journal of the American Ceramic Society. |
