  • Advanced Copper Smelting Technologies to Triple China Copper Production in a Decade

    Johnny Zhang China is forecasted to triple its copper production in one decade and to become the largest copper producer in the world. China is also a museum with all kinds of copper smelting technology installations. This short course will highlight the technical principles and operations updates of advanced copper smelting technologies. It will also cover recent innovations applied in many operational units such as ore preparation, smelting, converting, pyro-refining, electrolysis, SO2 off-gas treatment, acid preparation, waste heat utilization, dust treatment and precious metals recovery.

  • eWastes Materials Treatment Technology

    Johnny Zhang This short course highlights the technical principles and operations updates of various types of pyrometallurgical, hydrometallurgical, electrometallurgical technologies for WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) waste materials treatment. It also covers their major unit operations from disassembly, shredder, physical separation, sorting, ore preparation, smelting, SO2 offgas treatment and precious metals recovery.

  • Design Tonnage From Day One: Comminution Circuit Design and Optimization

    John H. Starkey This short course is offered to highlight the essential technical skills necessary to design a robust and effective grinding circuit. It is intended to provide an unbiased summary of the available tools and techniques as well as teach the specific expertise needed to develop a new grinding circuit using the SAGDesign methodology. The course will take the form of three sessions taking place over one day. The first session focuses on the available grinding technologies, testwork and design procedures. The second session focuses on the optimization of an existing grinding circuit. The third and final session will demonstrate example calculations using real world data to apply the topics discussed in sessions one and two. Ultimately, the goal of this workshop is for attendees to develop the skills to interpret raw testwork data to produce and optimize their own grinding circuit designs and operations.
