Short Bio:
My research interests include various fundamental aspects of metallurgical process engineering, such as reaction kinetics, thermodynamics and transport phenomena, with particular relevance to iron-making. To develop alternative metal making processes with a low greenhouse gas emission footprint is one of the missions of my research group at Kyushu University in Japan, where I have been an Associate Professor since 2013, and an Assistant Professor from 2006 until 2013. I obtained my Masterfs and Doctoral degrees in Engineering form Tohoku University, Japan, in 2003 and 2006 respectively. I was also a guest researcher at RWTH Aachen in Germany from 2010 to 2011. I have contributed to over 80 publications in peer-reviewed journals of international repute and have made nearly 80 technical presentations in national as well as international conferences. I have also been the recipient of several awards and honors, such as the Iron and Steel Institute of Japan (ISIJ) Sawamura Best Paper Award, the ISIJ Young Researcher Award, and the Yamaoka Joint Research Prize in 2005, 2010 and 2013 from the ISIJ. I have also served as a reviewer for many well renowned peer-reviewed journals in the Materials Science and Engineering field, such as the ISIJ International (ISSN: 1347-5460), Tetsu-to-Hagane (ISSN: 1883-2954), Metallurgical and Materials Transactions B (ISSN: 1073-5615) and Steel Research International (ISSN: 1869-344X).
