Short Bio:
Specialization of R.Z. Valiev lies in the area of materials science and engineering. He graduated from the Ural State Technical University (Ekaterinburg, Russia) with a degree in Physics of Metals and got Ph.D. degree with the State University of Kharkov (Ukraine) in 1977 and Dr. Sci. in 1984 with the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (Kiev), devoted to investigation of mechanisms of superplasticity effect in the materials.
Professor Ruslan Z. Valiev is one of the inventors and leading researchers in the area of science and engineering of bulk nanostructured materials in Russia and in over the world. His early work was devoted to evaluating the mechanical and physical properties of these new materials, and he published several highly-cited papers describing these properties of bulk nanostructured materials. Valiev's works make a significant contribution to physics of superplasticity in materials, creation of scientific basis for nanostructuring of metals and alloys with the help of severe plastic deformation, discovery of non-equilibrium grains boundaries in poly- and nanocrystalline materials and development of models for their description.
