Short Bio:
Mahmoud Mousavi received his PhD in Dec 2011 from Amirkabir University of Technology (Tehran Polytechnique), Iran. His research verged on the dislocation-based fracture mechanics of composite materials. In 2012, he moved to Aalto University where he has been appointed as postdoctoral Researcher and Lecturer. He has mainly conducted research on fracture mechanics within generalized continua. Dislocations has been used to formulate a generalized nonsingular fracture theory within gradient and nonlocal elasticity theories. In 2015, he has been a visiting researcher at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki to collaborate with Prof. Elias Aifantis. During this collaboration, distributed dislocation technique is extended to analyze materials within gradient elasticity. Recently, he has also been involved in a research project on nonsingular fracture theory in collaboration with Prof. Alexander Korsunsky (University of Oxford). Mahmoud Mousavi is also responsible as lecturer of graduate courses including "Plate and Shell Structures" and "Stability of Structures" at Aalto University.
