Dr. Osamu Kimura

Dr. Osamu Kimura, 58, studied at the Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine, the leading medical university in Kyoto, the ancient capital of Japan. He graduated in 1990, becoming a licensed medical doctor, and went on to residency at the same university for two years. In addition to his medical degree, Dr. Kimura completed a Ph.D. in 1999 at the Graduate school of Medical Science, Kyoto Prefectural University.

After finishing his residency program, he worked at an affiliated hospital as a general surgeon for three years. After his broad surgery experience, he devoted himself to working as a pediatric surgeon at Children’s Hospital, Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine. In that period, he developed several new evolutional treatments for children, especially for babies with severe diaphragmatic hernia, biliary atresia, and intestinal failure due to short bowel syndrome or intestinal aganglionosis. In basic research, his central theme was controlling intestinal mucosal immunity in intestinal transplantation.

His carrier as an immune oncologist began in 2016, and he established Tokyo CA Clinic in 2018. During these recent four years, he developed spectacularly effective anti-cancer immunotherapy for patients with advanced cancers. In 2021, He succeeded in treating Texas USA patients who once were given up by Huston medical center. By this achievement, he was invited to be a speaker at the Grand Round Series at McGovern Medical school on April 18th, 2021.

Until 2021, he was a visiting professor providing lectures and teaching pediatric surgical techniques at Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine. He is also the head of the Cell Therapy Laboratory at the Louis Pasteur Center for Medical Research in Kyoto, Japan
