Following the footsteps of other FLOGEN award recipients who have subsequently achieved further recognition, Prof. Wei Yang, President of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, was awarded the title "Honorary Doctor of the Faculty of Engineering of AUTh - Department of Civil Engineering" by Aristotle University of Thessaloniki on 13 June 2017. He is internationally known for his important contributions in the fields of Fracture Mechanics, Mechatronic Reliability and Micro/Nanomechanics, and has led groundbreaking research in academic institutions throughout the world.
