Welcome to the 2019 Sustainable Industrial Processing Summit and Exhibition, a yearly event that is deeply science-focused and industrial engineering-oriented, organized since 2003 by the not-for-profit corporation FLOGEN Stars Outreach (www.flogen.org), which is dedicated to achieving sustainability through science and technology. It incorporates summit plenary lectures from well-known speakers that address the link between scientific and engineering domains in the pursuit of sustainable development, as well as specific science and engineering symposia that feature technical presentations with the same goals in mind.

Following the rich tradition of previous years, the summit will cover 3 sustainability pillars: (1) Science, Technology & Industry, (2) Governance & Management and (3) Education & Civil Society.

This time, the summit honors the 2019 STARS of sustainable science, technology, and innovation. In alphabetical order, they are:

The honorees cover areas of sciences that may look distinct, but are mutually related and share sustainability as a common thread.

The summit simultaneously incorporates numerous International Symposia covering the fields of: iron and steel making; electrochemistry; molten salt and ionic liquids; advanced materials; advanced manufacturing; advanced technologies; aluminum; batteries; bio-extraction; cement; coal; coatings; composites; ceramics; ecosystems; education; energy production; environment; ferro-alloys; mathematics; metallic systems; metals and alloys; minerals; mining; multiscale materials; nanomaterials; non-ferrous smelting and hydro/electrochemical processing; quasi-crystals; rare earth and platinum group metals; recycling; and rotary kiln operations. The topics within each symposia span across scientific, technological, environmental, health, legal, management, financial, policy, taxation, social, and pedagogy issues.
