DR. FLORIAN KONGOLI ON A TECHNICAL VISIT DURING A TRIP IN FRANCE 326

Dr. Florian Kongoli traveled to France during October 2021, to be awarded the Gold Medal of Nancy and the Honorary Membership of the Academy of Science of Lorraine. Watch the series of live broadcasts from Nancy and Paris below.

ORGANIZATION VISITED DURING THE TRIP

Institut Jean Lamour

The Institut Jean Lamour is the largest public research facility dedicated to materials science in France and one of the largest in Europe. With more than 500 staff members, it addresses four specific areas of materials science: metallurgy and metallurgical processing, solid state compounds and surface coatings, solid state physics and especially magnetic nanomaterials, and materials for health and medical applications. It houses a specifically designed piece of equipment for the preparation and study of nanomaterials under ultra-high vacuum, which so far is unique worldwide. Industry and Commerce Chamber of Nancy

The industry and commerce chamber of Nancy is a beautiful example of the buildings built in this city before the first world war in the style of "art nouveau" (jugendStil in German). Other cities where this style was developed during the same period in time are Vienna, Brussels, and Barcelona. A nice account of this specific house can be found in Wikipedia:

https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chambre_de_commerce_et_d%27industrie_Grand_Nancy_M%C3%A9tropole_Meurthe-et-Moselle

At this moment, the house welcomes a special exhibition dedicated to the glasses, crystals and pieces of art related to the same period and which were produced in a glass factory that has now disappeared, but was a signature of the "art nouveau" style. The exhibition is organised by Francis d'Alascio, an academician of ALS. Live streamed videos of Dr. Kongolis visit to the Commerce Chamber can be seen below:
